Preparing Documents for Your Visa Application

Once you've signed the offer, the Thailand visa team will contact you to start gathering the necessary documents and provide you with a step-by-step guideline throughout the process.

If relocating with dependents, please provide their passport copies and relationship documents (e.g., marriage certificate for a spouse, birth certificate for children), including portrait photo following the same specifications as the main applicant's photo.

Landing in your destination country

Once you arrive in your new country for work, there are a few important steps to take to settle in and get everything in order. Here are the actions required upon arrival in your destination country:

Pre-Departure

Before your departure to Thailand, please have a copy of your eVisa and the letter from the Board of Investment (BOI) printed to verify your employment. Additionally, you need to submit the Thailand Arrival Card (TDAC) at least 3 days before you arrive.

Check your Visa Stamp

After passing through the immigration checkpoint, please check the "visa type" stamped on your arrival stamp. It must be "Non-B/IB" for employees and "Non-O" for dependents.

If you have been granted the wrong type of visa, request a revision from the officer immediately. Otherwise, you will need to return to the airport for correction. The officers will not accept the wrong type of visa on the arrival for the approval of the work permit and long-term visa extension submission

Post Arrival Procedure

Step 1 - Submitting documents

Upon receiving a correct arrival stamp on your passport, please send the PDF file of Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) confirmation, a Color Scanned Copy of Arrival Stamp and a Copy of Notification of Residence for Foreigners (TM30 form) (including dependent(s), if any). An example of the stamp is provided below.

Note that the scanned file must be created using a professional scanner and must show left and right pages of the passport (No mobile scanner allowed). If you received an E-Visa via email (A4 format), please share only a scanned copy of the arrival stamp with our Thai Visa team.

If you signed a contract under Adecco, you would need to provide additional documents and undergo a medical check for the work permit application. We strongly recommend following Adecco's instructions and timeline to avoid any delays to your start date.

Step 2 - Work permit and Long-term visa application

After receiving your visa and arrival stamp, the Thai visa team will process your work permit and long term visa extension. The Thai authorities will review your application, which may take up to 3-4 weeks

On the appointment date

Within 3-4 weeks after your arrival in Thailand, Thai visa team will make an appointment for you to visit the immigration office to process the work permit, visa and re-entry permit and 90 days report after the application been approved.

Work Permit: The Thai Work permit is issued in digital form on an application that can easily be accessed from your phone. However, to open the bank account in Thailand, the printed-out version of your work permit is required.
Long Term Visa: The visa allows you to stay in Thailand until the specified date. The expiration date varies by position, with the maximum being 4 years for non-CEG agent roles and 1 year for CEG agent employees.
Re-entry Permit: The re-entry permit is required to maintain your visa when you travel out of Thailand. It allows you to freely travel in and out of Thailand as many times as you want for the duration of the permit without your visa being revoked.
90 Days Report: Thailand Immigration Bureau requires all non-immigrant visa holders to report their current address every 90 days period of stay in Thailand. This also applies to your dependents if they hold non-immigrant visas.

You must not travel internationally until the long-term visa and work permit are issued.

Step 3 - Open a Local Bank Account

After you receive your work permit and long-term visa, please open a Thai bank account and upload a copy of your bank passbook to Workday as soon as possible to avoid any payroll delays. Opening a bank account can take a few hours so please carve our time from your schedule to prioritize this. We recommend doing this the same day you obtain your work permit, if possible, so you do not miss the payroll deadline.

Upon arrival, if you need to visit a doctor due to illness or any unforeseen circumstances before start date, you may refer to the hospitals list below. You could use the travel insurance purchased by Onboarding Team. If any assistance needed, contact your Onboarding Point of Contact/Case owner. After you start date, please check the partner hospitals list with your selected medical insurance plan for more hospitals option.

Dependent Relocation FAQ

Q: Who can accompany me in Thailand with a Dependent visa?

A: Dependents eligible to stay in Thailand with the main applicant include a spouse, child(ren), and parents (not parents-in-law). Agoda assists with dependent visa for both initial and renewal applications. However, the visa expenses for your parents must be covered by you.

Q: What mandatory documents do I need to prepare for my dependent visa application if I want them to relocate to Thailand with me at the same time

A: Inform the visa team and provide the following documents for their visa application:

A copy of their passport

A photo in .JPG format

A copy of the relationship certificate, as per the details below:

Spouse: Marriage Certificate

Children: Birth Certificate

Adopted Children: Registration of Legitimation of Child

Stepchildren: Registration of Legitimation of Child, or Embassy Letter to declare the relationship between the employee and spouse's children

Parents: Employee's Birth Certificate

Q: I can't submit my dependent's documents to the visa team on time, but I still want them to travel to Thailand together with me. What should I do?

A: If you wish to relocate with your dependents at the same time, please discuss with your manager about postponing your start date until the dependent visa process is complete. If your dependents enter Thailand with a different type of visa, they will need to leave Thailand to obtain the Non-O visa at the Thai embassy overseas. Please note that Agoda only supports dependent visa-related costs if the relocation occurs within 6 months after your start date.
If it is acceptable for your dependents to travel later, they can apply for their visa once you have obtained your long-term visa and work permit in Thailand. Please inform the visa team at least 1 month before your dependent's intended travel date, and the visa team will prepare the necessary documents for their Non-Immigrant “O” visa application submission at the designated Thai embassy.

Q: My dependent plans to move to Thailand at a later stage, what do I have to do?

A: Please inform the visa team at least 1 month before the intended travel date. Submit the necessary documents as outlined in the previous questions regarding the mandatory documents. The visa team will prepare the documents package to be sent to your dependent via DHL courier.

Q: Can a dependent visa holder work in Thailand?

A: No, dependent visa holders are prohibited from working in Thailand. If your dependent secures a job, their employer must support them in applying for a work visa. This requires your dependent to leave the country and apply for a Non-Immigrant B/IB work visa at the Thai embassy overseas. Agoda will assist with the process of dependent visa cancellation.

Q: My dependent is Thai, do they have to process a visa?

A: No, they can travel to Thailand directly with their Thai passport.
